This week I started reading Dr. David Jeremiah’s book, Signs of Life. I’ve had the book since we heard Dr. Jeremiah speak at the National Quartet Convention in September, but I just started reading it this week. It’s all about having a mindset for missions and an attitude of service. I definitely need to be reminded of that–I seem to be getting more selfish with age!
Yesterday’s section was really thought-provoking for me. It asked readers to think about whether their relationship with God is more like a ”dial up” connection or an “always on” broadband connection to the Internet. I loved that analogy. Too often I want to call on God when I need something or when I have extra time or when I feel grateful. I want my relationship with Him, though, to be much more than that. The best times in my spiritual life are when I am directly connected throughout the day, no matter what’s going on or where I am. Again, as so often in the last year, my thoughts go to my cousin Ruby and the inspiration she was to me and everyone she knew. Her relationship with Jesus permeated throughout her whole being. That’s what I want! I want that “broadband” connection everyday of my life!
And just one other thing, speaking of Ruby, I am so proud and so happy for her daughter, Rhea, who has been accepted into Law School! Ruby is no doubt beaming in heaven!!
